Micah Corps 2012

The 2012 Micah Corps is into our second day, and we have already learned so much about each other! I, (Elizabeth), am a Senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying English with a Creative Writing focus. I will be focusing on Children in Poverty in Nebraska. Adam is my focus partner for the summer. He is a Sophomore at Hastings College studying Religion and Theater. The two interns studying immigration are Tori and James. Tori is a Freshman at Wesleyan College studying Global Studies and Political Science. James is a Sophomore at Nebraska Christian College studying mission work. The two interns that will be focusing on Environmental Stewardship are Elena and Jonathan. Elena graduated from Lydia Patterson Institute in El Paso, Texas and will be at Morningside College in the fall. Jonathan is a Sophomore at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying Religion and Classics. We are all excited to begin this 10-week journey together and know it will be an amazing summer. However it is not all serious work! On our first day together, Tori brought us some fun team building games.
The five of us here play a team building game where we tried to keep as many balloons as possible in the air. Also playing were Micole Harms and Andrea Paret, our two summer mentors.
Adam (in the blue shirt) works to guide Jonathan (with the blindfold) through a water balloon maze, while Micole tries to distract him. The rest of us watch, hoping he makes it through without breaking the water balloons.
Today, we got to meet Elena through Skype for the first time, as she is still in Texas until Saturday. We are all anticipating her arrival and are excited for her to join us on Sunday for our worship time at Tri-Community Church in Omaha!
